Machinations Set in Motion...

The files have been sent to the printer! That means everything- the cards, the mats, the rulebook, first visitor token, and box. Herotime (the printer) is already hard at work putting a sample print together so we can make sure everything is high quality, and that it fits nicely in the box and plastic insert.

The cards themselves are all pretty close to what you’ve seen already, but we’ll be restarting our weekly “7th day secret” posts on our Instagram account showing off the final versions of the cards and accompanying tidbits of lore and behind the scenes tea. We have a ton of fun with these and there’s lots of world-building and game design nerdery to share, so we hope you follow us there to get the inside scoops! (@primordialsecrets)

What HAS changed most dramatically is the rulebook. We had a good hard look at clarity and effective communication, which boiled down to some reorganization, a ton of rewording, and a few extra clarifications and examples. We’ll be working on getting the updated rules onto the website when we can, in addition to a full “how-to-play” video that will be released right around when the games will be arriving on doorsteps.

Speaking of doorsteps, those of you who ordered T-shirts and filled in your address in Backerkit before Nov 1 should be receiving your shirts as soon as this week!

Two Weeks Left Until It’s TOO LATE!

The Backerkit shop closes this Halloween! That means you’ve got about two weeks left to add extra copies of the game to your shipment. Even if you’ve already filled out your survey you can still make changes to your order until Halloween. Once November comes, the discounted price goes away forever.

The All-Hallows deadline is especially important for those folks who haven’t given us your shipping address yet. As of right now we have 80% of the shipping addresses we need, but that leaves a whole lot of folks that we don’t know where to send your game to! If you’re unsure if you’ve given us your address, check your email to see if you’re still getting spammed with Backerkit reminders (they’ll stop once you fill it out)!

The last important thing about November 1st is that’s when Backerkit locks in the orders and charges the credit cards for whatever you added in Backerkit.

October Production Update

The card files are updated, triple-checked and ready to send to the printer. Mats and box as well.

The rulebook is mostly done. We updated a lot of the text and added some clarifications and examples based on the most frequently asked questions. We also added a few names to the credits! We need to triple check that everything is optimal and beautiful before sending all the files to the printer at once. The files should be sent off in the next week or two.

First Look at Final Card Frames (and other Updates)

Files are almost ready to send to the printer, complete with new card frames. Thanks to everyone who voted on the designs!

Like we said last month, with so many eyeballs on the game during the Kickstarter we felt there was some good actionable feedback we could turn into one more tweak to the card frames. The two main concerns we hoped to address with this change were:

• Confusion between cost (fire icon) and devotion (heart icon). Previously these two were on the same plane as each other, indicating that one pays for the other, but it was adding confusion on first plays more than anything, so now all 3 "stats" are clustered in one corner while "costs" are in the opposite corner.
• Font size. With this newest change we were able to push the text a few pixels toward the circle, giving us room to increase the font size.

In addition to changes to the frame we're taking one more pass through the card text and rulebook. The card files should be off the printer in about a week, with the rulebook following shortly after.

Important Backerkit Email Coming Soon

Two last things we need from you in order to give you your well-deserved rewards... your shipping address and shipping fees. These are collected via Backerkit, a small online store/survey. No need to create an account or download anything, just click on the survey, fill it out, and you're good to go! Access to the survey should be coming via email for some of you tonight and most of you early next week.

As a Kickstarter backer you have locked in the cheaper price for the game for as many extra copies as you'd like to add to your cart in Backerkit, so if you know of anyone else that missed the campaign, you've got the "in" on the last chance to get a discounted rate for them. (Also, shipping is much cheaper for additional copies, but no pressure).

Not only did we fund, you casually unlocked every stretch goal, filling the box with an exclusive Kickstarter-only card, neoprene player mats, a deluxe first visitor token, and the rest of the game, of course! We are humbled by everyone’s interest and support. We’re especially grateful to the content creators and individuals who helped spread the word! We knew we had a good game, but letting people know about it is the real trick, and with your help the world has rumbled with whispers of the timeless ones.

What is next for you?

• Kickstarter processes the pledges – mostly right away, but it can take up to 2 weeks to sort out some billing mismatches etc.
• In about 2 weeks the pledge manager survey will get sent out. This is where y’all can upgrade pledges if you want, add add-ons, and most importantly add your shipping address and pay the shipping cost. We hit our minimums for every shipment zone so everyone can expect to pay very close to our initial estimate for shipping.
• Feel free to forget about us at that point and find a package on your doorstep next Spring, or if you want to continue following along, we’ll keep sending updates as we hit production milestones.

What is next for Garth and Hania?

• We will be having one proper Summer weekend to celebrate.
• When we return, there is a few final file preparation steps to do – rulebook fixes bases on recent feedback, prepping card frames to fit in new printer’s templates, making sure these neoprene mats look dope...
• While we do that, we can get the ball rolling with LongPack to get ourselves into their que.
